It was spring time of 1992 when the ethnic war began and Bojanas happy, carefree youth transformed into a struggle to survive.

Everything around her became death and destruction. There was no food, no water, no electricity, and there was a constant danger of shelling and sniper fire. Bojana witnessed human beings turning into beasts and did not know if she was going to remain alive any given day. In the midst of such reality, Bojana wrote poems.

This book is her war memoir through poetry. In addition to poems, most of which were written in Bojanas second language, English, the book also includes explanatory narrative with excerpts from the authors war journal and copies of her drawings. Bojana is currently an Assistant Professor of Political Science at LaGuardia Community College, City University of New York. Her research interests include causes of war and peacebuilding.
